Orynt is developed by John Barney. It helps you manage your own device without sending your essays or app activity to us.
Essay text
Essays remain in memory while the editor is open and are discarded when it closes. They are never saved by Orynt or uploaded to the developer.
Data on your device
Rules, private app-selection tokens, pending attempt progress, and up to 100 completed action records with timestamps, requirement types, essay counts, step counts, walking distances, wait durations, rule names, and break durations are stored on your device and shared with Orynt’s Screen Time extensions. These records may be included in your device backups. Clear unlock history in Settings and complete a rule’s saved requirements to delete it and remove its saved selections.
Walking, daily movement, and waiting
With your permission, Orynt reads iPhone step counts and estimated walking and running distance from Apple’s Motion & Fitness APIs. Ordinary movement attempts measure activity after you start. Daily movement rules query the current day in the rule’s saved reset time zone, including activity before opening Orynt. It does not record GPS routes or send motion data to the developer. The latest daily goal progress, verification time, daily claim, and access session start/end times remain on your device and are shared only with Orynt’s Screen Time extensions. Raw motion samples, imported Health records, and Apple Watch-only activity are not stored or imported. These records are removed when you delete their rule. Optional access reminders are scheduled locally. Timer measurements remain on your device. Pending attempts expire after 24 hours or, for breaks, at the end of the current blocked period. Completed action history can be cleared in Settings.
Apple services
Apple handles Screen Time authorization, the system’s website filtering, subscription payments, and purchase restoration. Orynt checks Apple-verified subscription status to enable paid features. The developer does not receive your payment-card information.
No account, advertising, or tracking
This release has no app accounts, parent passkeys, child sharing, advertising, analytics SDKs, or tracking. The app does not send essays, app selections, browsing history, or device usage to a developer server.
This support website
The website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may process visitor IP addresses and technical request information to deliver and secure the site under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. We add no analytics scripts, advertising, tracking cookies, or third-party fonts.
Optional support requests
If you choose to create a GitHub support issue, your GitHub username and the content you post are public. The developer uses that information to respond to your request. Posting is optional and is not required to use the app. Do not post sensitive information. You can edit or remove your own issue content through GitHub’s controls, subject to GitHub’s retention policies.
Your choices and contact
Delete local rules after completing their saved requirements; clear unlock history in Settings. Find Screen Time permissions and recovery guidance in Settings → Support & privacy → Help. Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account; deleting Orynt does not cancel a subscription.
